Recently, the first of the newest range of Actros were delivered. In total, six of these vehicles have been ordered, two of which are articulated lorries. All will be out in the field by the end of this year.
The most striking change draws the eye instantly – gone are traditional wing mirrors, replaced with cameras. And the vehicle offers more innovations: In the cockpit, for example, the instrument panel and control both consist of a ten-inch colour screen.
A big part of making the vehicle safer comes from the turn-off assistant, which also recognises cyclists. This system monitors the whole passenger side. First, a visual warning is provided, a red warning triangle displayed in the wing mirror monitor. Then, an acoustic signal sounds from the passenger side.
We are excited to see how the new generation performs on the «front line».
