Emission-free to the city centre

The modes of transport that are to be used in our «Emission-free to the city centre» one-year pilot phase are now ready for action.

Monday 3rd June 2019 marked the date upon which the eActros lorry was handed over at Mercedes-Benz Trucks Schweiz AG’s headquarters in Schlieren.

On site, our drivers, the workshop employees from LARAG, the transport manager from our branch office in Schwarzenbach and our head of automotive engineering all received training to make them aware of the risks involved in high-voltage systems, as well as to familiarise them with the vehicle. In addition to instruction on how to use the high-voltage charger, the training also included topics surrounding development and technology.

In the middle of the same week, the official from Daimler AG transferred the electric lorry to Schwarzenbach. Following this, he spent two days providing instruction to our eActros team by accompanying them on the road. Initial impressions were exceedingly positive.

Jürg Lüthi, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks Schweiz AG, also seems satisfied: «The eActros, which is locally emission-free, is already undergoing intensive real-life testing with a variety of customers in Germany. We are now looking forward to working with our first two Swiss customers, CAMION TRANSPORT and Migros. These are from two different industries, and will add to our testing process.»

We have also since received approval for the lorry in Switzerland. We are now looking forward to using it under real conditions and beginning the test phase.
