So that bees gather…

Such were the tidings on our «Eco Balance by CAMION TRANSPORT» tailgate series in 2011. Now, exactly ten years later, we are the proud guardians of a bee colony.

After all, we stand up for nature and we consider the environment to be important. We decided to make this commitment and in doing so, to make a valuable contribution to the preservation of bees.

Our hive, with its newly settled colony of honey bees, isn’t just located anywhere. Our new Bee Family lives with us at our headquarters. It is here that the bees get busy, diligently gathering nectar and pollen and storing up honey. The company Bee-Family AG is the mastermind, and stands for a project to protect bees with the following vision: «We create habitats for bees and people. We want the best food for both. We want to demonstrate the importance of the bee to people and its significant role in the precious cycle of nature.»

Olivier Adolph, the bee keeper at Bee-Family, chose the location according to the requirements of the bees. A bee-friendly form of husbandry with a location that is largely spared environmental toxins is the top priority. Olivier Adolph also looks after and maintains our bee colony. It is a responsible job, considering that there are around 40 000 bees plus the queen bee.

And since we like our bees, a honey dividend in the form of a few glasses of gourmet honey awaits us as a «little extra». And that is something we look forward to!

Little Bee Vocabulary: Bee colony
A bee colony is its own little world. Bees cannot survive alone. The objective of the colony is to ensure its survival and that of its descendants. Each bee has its own task. The workers make up the largest group: there is the cleaning bee, the brood keeper, the honeycomb builder, the guard and the gatherer. The sole task of the male bees, the drones, is to fertilise a queen bee on her maiden flight.
