Emission-free to the city centre

Exciting project start

Today, 9 April 2019, marks the start of our pilot phase of the emission-free delivery.

Guests invited from the transport and logistics industry, press representatives as well as clients arrived at the Lokremise St.Gallen at 10 o'clock. The first surprise happened during the first welcome coffee: the entrance of the «eActros» electric truck by Mercedes-Benz, a Cargo eBike and eScooter. All in a same appearance.

Bruno Jäger, Member of the Administrative Board of CAMION TRANSPORT, explained in his speech which steps CAMION TRANSPORT is taking to protect the environment, and revealed the secret about the connection between the three vehicles and emission-free delivery. He was followed by Andreas Hollenstein, Head of Infrastructure and Environment at CAMION TRANSPORT. He outlined the goals and the implementation of the pilot phase and its potential results.

Jürg Lüthi, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks Switzerland, described the four parts of their road efficiency and its ecological and economic benefits. Ueli Traber, co-owner of «Die Fliege» Velokurier in St.Gallen, presented their transport concept and touched upon the interfaces of CAMION TRANSPORT.

Marc Mächler, Member of the Governing Council and Construction Director of the Canton of St.Gallen, illustrated why «smart cityhubs» are in the canton's interests. Finally, St.Gallen's Mayor Thomas Scheitlin talked about why city centres need new delivery concepts.

We look back on a successful event and look forward to collecting the first findings of the pilot phase for our long-term goal: emission-free delivery in the city centre.
